good morning i'm maria silva. i'm dave hall. now it's time to get a first look at your fox5 weather 24-7 forcast... les krifaton joins us now. pleasant weather remains with above average temperatures for the remainder of the work week. changes start happening as we approach the weekend. winds will begin to pick up thursday night thanks to a strong southwesterly flow associated with a trough. that trough is expected to keep breezy to windy conditions in our area friday through sunday. good morning.
killed after a dump truck lost its breaks and hit two vehicles near red rock. n-h-p says it happened monday morning on state charleston loop. troopers say the brakes failed on the dump truck. before it rear- ended a sedan then crashed into a motor home. two people in the r-v died at the scene. n-dot says the crash happened in a construction zone. but it was un- related to the actual construction. north las vegas police arrested the man they think slashed a local realtor's throat. ryan vega was showing a home near belmont and carey when a tenant stabbed him several times.
gone when police arrived. this past friday night, police were called back to the home for a disturbance. that's when they found the 36- year-old and arrested him. mora was booked for battery with a deadly weapon. vega remains hospitalized following the brutal knife attack. a henderson community is on edge, after police say a jogger was attacked in broad daylight. the suspect is in custody, but people living in the neighborhood are still uneasy. fox5's faith tanner spoke with neighbors about
near paseo verde and desert shadow. 23-year-old michael mattingly is behind bars in connection to the assult. neighbors tell us they came home and saw police tape near the road. they thought there had been a car crash. "came back home, there was police tape already there and some police cars on the side and some police men around, we weren't sure what it was about" witnesses say they saw the victim.. bleeding on the sidewalk and being kicked. and say mattingly ran away from the scene-- and then tried to carjack a driver who stopped to help the woman. we reached out to that woman--- who doesn't want to be identified. she says she's still very shaken up... and told us this: "this went from one minute thinking i was approaching someone her hit by a car and thought he could help to him turning violent, attempting to pull me from my car and trying to take off in my vehicle" the park across the street from the attack... was busy with families as well as other runners and joggers. those we talked to... say this won't stop them from coming out here... but it does have them on edge. "it's not going to prevent me from walking, but i think i will be a little more cautious." faith tanner fox5 news local las
charged with battery... attempted robbery... and violating his probation. bond was set at 150-thousand dollars. several re to tell you about this morning... including one for lunchables "kraft heinz company" says some of its "ham and american cheese cracker stackers" were incorrectly given labels meant for a "nacho" lunchable. this can be a problem, for people who have a wheat or soy allergy. the products were produced on september 21st and were sold in utah and california. u-f-c fighter conor mcgregor gets slapped with a 150-thousand dollar fine, for throwing water bottles and cans at nate diaz during a press
you may remember this video from the press conference. mcgregor apologized to the nevada state athletic commission for his part in the altercation. he will also perform 50 hours of community service. hours after the meeting -- mcgregor tweeted "i get fined more than these bums get paid." diaz still has not faced his day in front of the commission. he was granted a continuance to a later date. the next nevada meeting is set for november tenth, here in las vegas. a mississippi high school football player makes history, becoming the first female player in state history to score a touchdown. the laurel high school team was up 7-0, when senior kendall breland carried the ball into the end zone from a yard out. she says she just executed the play her coach drew up. "it felt awesome. i've been trying to make history ever since i came down here 3 years ago." "they were so happy, they jumped all over me. one of them picked me up in the end zone, scared me."
mississippi high school football, female players have kicked field goals and extra points. but before friday night, a female player had never scored a touchdown. on september 8, 19-74, evel knievel climbed into a steam-powered "rocket cycle" and blasted off a cliff over idaho's snake river. he failed to reach the other side. now 42-years later a hollywood stuntman is paying late knievel by making the jump himself. fox's trace gallagher has the story.
although the jump failed and knievel almost died.. eddie braun was hooked.. and 42 years later found himself in the same spot.. in nearly the same rocket.. braun says: "the only changes we made slight changes in the parachute technology because as you know evel knievel was not successful because his parachute deployed early. so other than slight little changes we pretty much fit form and finish it was the same rocket." four decades of dreaming.. four years of planning--for a jump that took seconds.. braun says: "before i even realized that i pushed the button completely, i was already smokin. movin. i was riding a controlled explosion is basically what it was." but instantly hitting 450 miles per hour at 3-thousand feet was the easy part.. finding the horizon.. steering the rocket and deploying the chutes --is where it got tricky.. when eddie finally realized that he wasn't gonna pass out.. and was gonna survive.. he allowed

people living in seaside villages in haiti, are still waiting for food, medicine and fresh water to arrive. people in the village say they hear helicopters fly overhead, delivering aid to other areas, but they are still awaiting millions in aid. here at home, rescue teams are back at work in north carolina, looking for people stranded by the flooding. at least three people are missing. civil war-era cannonballs were found in mess left behind by hurricane matthew. the cannonballs were unearthed in folley beach near charleston. the age-old ordinance was discovered by the city's former mayor... who was walking along the beach when he spotted the rocky-looking cannonballs fused together by rust. county bomb squad and u-s air force officials responded and confirmed the ordinance... removing and detonating most of them. the rest will go to a nearby naval base. pleasant weather remains with above
